4 tips to help you support a loved one going through cancer treatment
When someone you love is diagnosed with cancer, it’s common to feel unsure of how to show your love and support. While there’s no one-size-fits-all answer, Dr. Jon Hunter, who works with breast cancer patients as Head of Psychosocial Services in the Marvelle Koffler Breast Center at Mount Sinai Hospital, shares his insights on how to best support loved ones going through cancer treatment.

Genetic association with aggressive prostate cancer discovered
An international study has identified a genetic connection to the aggressive form of prostate cancer. The study, co-led by Dr. Alexandre Zlotta, Director of Uro-oncology and Associate Scientist at the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute, showed a threefold increase in the risk of aggressive prostate cancer for men with the genetic mutation. The frequency of the gene variants varied from six to 14 per cent of the population of men with prostate cancer.

Serving for Sinai a smashing success
On March 26, Serving for Sinai, an all-day co-ed "Battle of the Business" volleyball tournament was held in support of the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute (LTRI). Thanks to the amazing support of the participants, sponsors, past and present Olympians, volunteers and committee members, the event raised almost $250,000 in support of groundbreaking research at the LTRI.
