When Gurdeep discovered she was pregnant for a second time, she and her husband were hopeful. The family came to Mount Sinai when their first born Arun was born prematurely. As a result, Arun became ill with a severe infection and passed away two weeks later. It was the most difficult and painful moment of their lives.
Because her second pregnancy was considered high-risk, Gurdeep came back to Mount Sinai’s Frances Bloomberg Centre for Women’s and Infants’ Health and the care of Dr. John Kingdom, a specialist in the Hospital’s Maternal-Fetal Medicine Unit.

Thirty-five weeks later, baby Simrita was born healthy and happy. In appreciation for the care they received at Mount Sinai, the family launched Let's Nach (Dance) in memory of Arun. Proceeds from the event support Mount Sinai’s Special Pregnancy Program, a part of the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Unit where Dr. John Kingdom and his colleagues continue their work.
“Let’s Nach has been a healing process for our family. By showing our deep appreciation for Dr. Kingdom and Mount Sinai, we continue to host our benefit dinner and dance, now in its fifth year. We look forward to many more years to come for this event and we hope those who have also been touched by this hospital will continue to join us.”
