On June 8 and June 9, 70 car enthusiasts came together at Woodbine Entertainment Centre for the third annual Leadership Sinai Porsche Rally, hosted by Downtown Fine Cars. Thanks to the incredible generosity of sponsors and participants, over $51, 500 (net) was raised to support family reproductive health at Sinai Health System. The event co-chairs were Jordy Mecklinger and Jordan Druxerman.

“I’m proud to be here today supporting a cause that is very close to my heart,” said Jordy Mecklinger, Event Co-Chair. “When my wife Pam and I were having trouble conceiving, we discovered I have Cystic Fibrosis, a genetic condition that made me infertile. I was alarmed and surprised, because I was fairly healthy and didn’t experience any symptoms. I was also worried I wouldn’t be able to start a family. But thanks to Dr. Keith Jarvi and the staff at Mount Sinai Hospital’s Murray Koffler Urologic Wellness Centre, my wife Pam and I were able to have our twins, Hayley and Brandon in 2014.”

The event featured exciting and exhilarating Porsche driving experiences that ranged from travelling on highways, country roads, and an autocross course including hot laps. Attendees were able to choose between a number of luxury, high-end Porsches, such as the Porsche 911, the Porsche Cayman, and the Porsche Boxster. The event featured speeches from Jordy and staff members from the Murray Koffler Urologic Wellness Centre, who discussed how the funds raised can impact family reproductive health.

The event was hosted by Leadership Sinai, a group of passionate and ambitious professionals in their thirties and forties who support the most vital needs of Sinai Health System. They take an active role in fundraising, planning events and connecting their peers through the Leadership Sinai network.

“By talking about my family’s experience, I want to raise awareness and encourage more families to go out and seek help,” said Jordy Mecklinger, Event Co-Chair. “Today’s event, which helps raise funds for family reproductive health, is crucial to helping reduce the stigma around this important health issue.”
