Sinai Health Foundation is pleased to announce that Louis de Melo has been appointed the new Chief Executive Officer, Sinai Health Foundation and Executive Vice President, Academic Advancement, Sinai Health System.

Louis was selected following a comprehensive search process with some of the most talented fundraising executives in Canada.

The CEO Search Committee was appointed by Sinai Health Foundation’s Board of Directors. In addition to the Board’s Co-Chairs, David Cynamon and Howard Sokolowski, the Committee included Officers, Brent Belzberg, Max Gotlieb, Karen Fonn, Richard Pilosof and Jeff Rosenthal as well as Board Director, Mark Davis, and Dr. Gary Newton, Chief Executive Officer and Joan Sproul, Chief Financial Officer, Sinai Health System.

Louis de Melo joins Sinai Health Foundation from the University of Ottawa where he was responsible for elevating the profile of the University, building external alliances and strategic partnerships, executing a brand refresh, and most importantly, revenue generation to support the University’s mission of teaching and scholarship. During his tenure, he has more than tripled the fundraising revenue at the University and launched the largest fundraising campaign in their history.

“A continued focus on philanthropy and community-building will enable Sinai Health Foundation to enhance the patient experience and have increased academic and scientific impact that will allow us to transform the future of health care,” says Dr. Gary Newton, Sinai Health System’s President and CEO. “This leadership role will be critical in helping us realize our vision of becoming Canada’s leading integrated health system.”

Louis will begin his new role in October 2017.
