30th and final George Knudson Oakdale Pro-Am

30th Annual George Knudson Oakdale Pro-Am.

Founded in 1926, Oakdale Golf & Country club is widely recognized as one of Canada’s finest private golf and country clubs. Oakdale’s vibrant membership community enjoys a world class 27 hole championship golf course. As a community, Oakdale is committed to respecting its social responsibilities, charitable obligations, a tradition of excellence and helping lead the fight against cancer.

In 1958, George Knudson joined the professional staff at Oakdale. A group of dedicated Oakdale members led by Ed Creed recognized his talent and helped launch his PGA career. Knudson along with Mike Weir holds the Canadian record of the most wins on the PGA Tour, with eight career victories - truly a Canadian golf legend. His premature death in 1989 to lung cancer was mourned in Canada and throughout the North American golf fraternity.

In his memory, a year after his passing a group of committed Oakdale members organized the George Knudson Oakdale Pro-Am charity tournament. A remarkable $5.5 million has been raised for cancer research since the tournament's inception. Proceeds from The Knudson Oakdale Pro-Am are split between the Israel Cancer Research Fund and Mount Sinai Hospital of Toronto.
