Join us for a brunch on September 18 in memory of Pearl Marcus. Pearl touched everyone in a special way, so we honour her by celebrating mentor relationships in our community. Proceeds from this event will support the Panov Program in Precision Chemotherapy, a ground breaking research program with the goal of creating “precision” or personalized treatment for cancer.

Pearls of Wisdom is very pleased to advise that Canadian astronaut Steve MacLean has graciously agreed to make remarks at the event. Dr. MacLean has been on two space missions, was the second Canadian to perform a spacewalk and the first to operate the Canadarm2. He is a past president of the Canadian Space Agency. In the aftermath of the Space Shuttle Columbia accident in 2003, he was the casualty assistance and calls officer for the late Israeli astronaut Ilan Ramon. We are honoured to have such an incredible role model share his experiences and discuss the importance of mentoring.

The event’s finale will feature a performance by Juno nominated singer and song writer Amy Sky, who has written songs for Diana Ross, Anne Murray and Olivia Newton John. Sky sadly lost her own mother to cancer 4 years ago and has been an active community leader and volunteer.
