Why supporting research is critical

The world of medicine has evolved significantly over the last 40 years, and we often take these advances for granted. From minimally invasive surgery to faster diagnoses to new treatments and therapies, these advances could not have happened without the partnership between donors and institutes like the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute, or LTRI.
The LTRI is a research powerhouse with some of the best and brightest scientific minds in the world. Along with funding from our government, Sinai Health donors have played a critical role in closing funding gaps and allowing our scientists to push farther, aim higher and dream bigger.
In 2013, Larry and Judy Tanenbaum made a transformative $35 million gift in support of research at Sinai Health. In recognition of their donation, the Hospital re-named its research institute the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute that we know today.
Already among the top 10 medical research institutes in the world, every donation, big or small, is helping to further research and transform care for patients at Sinai Health and beyond.
“Research is about finding answers to questions, where failure is more common than success, and where the cost of success requires time, patience and investment,” Larry Tanenbaum, Chairman of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment Ltd., said during the gift announcement in 2013.
To help fuel the next wave of discoveries, please donate.
