On July 12 we celebrated our Grateful Hearts program reaching the $1 million milestone at Mount Sinai! Grateful Hearts is a Foundation-led program that provides patients and families with a meaningful way to acknowledge a member of the Mount Sinai care team.
Older adults who lack a sense of social belonging, have minimal engagement with others, and are without high-quality relationships are considered to be socially isolated. As a result, they are more susceptible to detrimental health conditions. Social isolation is a major health concern among older adults.
On Sunday, September 23 the Arthritis Research Foundation will host the 19th annual Day at the Races. This year, attendees can expect an elegant yet casual afternoon that includes valet parking, a champagne reception, gourmet lunch and horse racing with a bird’s eye view of the track.
The Rogers Hixon Ontario Human Milk Bank, based at Mount Sinai Hospital, collects and pasteurizes surplus milk donated by nursing mothers. The milk is then dispensed by prescription to NICU babies, who don’t have access to a full supply of mother’s milk. Thomas Klages was one of those babies. For preemies like Thomas, mother’s milk is more than food. It protects them from life-threatening infections while helping them develop and adjust to life outside the womb.
